Texas Tech’s Logan Hughes (co-player), West Virginia’s Gavin Kelly (co-player), Kansas State’s James Guyette (co-pitcher), West Virginia’s Maxx Yehl (co-pitcher) and Arizona State’s Dominic Smaldino (newcomer) were named the Big 12 Baseball Players of the Week for the 13th week of the 2026 season.
Hughes helped Texas Tech to a 3–1 week, hitting .417 (5-for-12) with seven runs, 10 RBIs and three home runs. The junior outfielder homered in multiple contests, including a game-winning home run in the sixth inning of the series-opening 2–1 victory over BYU. He added a home run in the 9-7 win over DBU as well as one in the 15-11 series-clincher against the Cougars. In the 15–11 win, he recorded five RBIs and scored four runs to help the Red Raiders clinch the rubber match.
Kelly powered West Virginia to a perfect 4–0 week, including sweeping then-No. 7 Kansas on the road. He batted .412 (7-for-17) with six runs, five RBIs and four home runs. The sophomore catcher homered twice in a midweek win over Marshall before going deep in each of the first two games against the Jayhawks. His four homers tied for the sixth-most in the country for the week. He recorded at least one hit and one run in all four games while finishing with a 1.118 slugging percentage and a 1.618 OPS.
Guyette tossed a complete game to lead Kansas State to a 5–2 win over Cincinnati, allowing just two runs on three hits across nine innings. After surrendering two runs in the second inning, the junior right-hander retired 18 of the next 20 batters and finished with a career-high 13 strikeouts, the most by a Wildcat pitcher in the past eight seasons. He became the third Wildcat this season to throw a complete game and the outing marked the program’s first nine-inning complete game since 2024.
Yehl delivered a complete-game performance on the road at then-No. 7 Kansas, allowing just one run on six hits over 9.0 innings while striking out nine. The junior left-hander lowered his ERA to a Big 12-best 2.04 and helped West Virginia secure a series-opening victory. He became the second Mountaineer this season to throw a complete game. He’s one of seven Big 12 pitchers to tally 75 or more strikeouts this season and is tied for the second-most victories in the Conference. It is his second award this year.
Smaldino tied for the national lead with five home runs last week, with all five coming in the final two games of the series against Oklahoma State. The junior infielder hit .533 (8-for-15) and added 13 RBIs and seven runs in the three-game series against the Cowboys. He recorded his first career multi-home run game on Saturday before tying an Arizona State single-game record with three home runs in Sunday’s finale. He totaled seven extra-base hits and 26 total bases while posting a 1.733 slugging percentage.
