SAN ANTONIO -- Jessie Bruch's goal off of Brittany Timko's corner kick ended up being the game-winner as No. 4 seed Nebraska defeated No. 5 seed Kansas 3-1 in the second quarterfinal game of the Big 12 Soccer Championship at Blossom Soccer Stadium.
Nebraska, 12-6-1, advances to Friday's first semifinal against No. 1 seed Texas A&M at 4:30 p.m. CT. Kansas falls to 11-6-2.
Aysha Jamani scored the Huskers' first goal when she beat the defender and knocked it in from 10 yards out. Timko, the Big 12 Player of the Year, concluded NU's scoring when she registered her 10th goal of the season in the second half off of a Jessie Goodell assist. Timko has tallied 22 points in her last seven games.
Caroline Smith put Kansas on the board with an unassisted goal that went over the goalkeeper's head with just under five minutes to play.
Nebraska narrowly outshot the Jayhawks 18-16. KU keeper Julie Hanley totaled seven saves while NU keeper Jamie Klages recorded five.
