SAN ANTONIO -- Caitlin Kennedy's first-half goal was all the scoring Texas would need as the No. 6 seed Longhorns downed No. 3 seed Iowa State 1-0 in the fourth quarterfinal game of the Big 12 Soccer Championship at Blossom Soccer Stadium.

UT improved its record to 11-7-1 and advances to Friday's second semifinal to face No. 2 seed Colorado at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Kennedy scored her sixth goal of the season when she got the ball through to the right side. Julie Gainey earned the assist.

The shots for the two teams were tied at 16 each. Iowa State goalkeeper Joanna Haig made five saves while UT's Dianna Pfenninger had two.

Texas' win was the only upset of the day as the Nos. 1, 2 and 4 seeds also advanced to the semifinals. No. 1 seed Texas A&M squares off against No. 4 seed Nebraska in the first semifinal at 4:30 p.m. CT on Friday.
