Kansas Downs Missouri to Advance to Big 12 Championship Finale

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Kansas Jayhawks downed the Missouri Tiger, 4-3, at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City on Saturday at the 2006 Big 12 Championships. Kansas will now face Nebraska on Sunday at 1 p.m., in the final game of the 2006 Big 12 Championship.

Kansas (41-23) finishes pool play with a 3-0 record while Missouri (31-25) finishes 2-1.

The Jayhawks took an early lead after a run in the first inning and a Ryne Price price home run in the second.

KU extended the lead when Erik Morrison singled and scored Jared Schweitzer.

Missouri scored two runs in the top of the seventh and another in the eighth to tied the score at three all.

The Jayhawks scored the winning run in the eighth when Brock Simpson scored on a Gary Arndt error.

Don Czyz (6-0), the nation's leading closer, blew his first save of the season but did pick up the victory for Kansas in 2.1 innings of work. Travis Wendte (2-2) picks up the loss for the Tigers

Kansas and Nebraska will face each other for the 2006 Big 12 Baseball Championship Sunday at 1 p.m., at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
