Oklahoma State continued to lead after the second day of the 2009 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship and holds a 6-stroke advantage entering the final round at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas. Junior Ashley Freeman of Texas A&M and freshman Caroline Hedwall of OSU are tied for the best individual scoring mark with a 1-under par total of 145.
Texas A&M closed the gap for first place and sits six strokes behind with a score of 603. Oklahoma State won the crown a year ago, while the Aggies were the winners in 2007. Oklahoma moved into third-place with a two-day total of 601, while Colorado is tied with Sunflower State rivals Kansas and Kansas State for fourth place (622).
On the individual leaderboard, Freeman was one of five golfers to post an even-par 73 on day two, the best score of the second round. OSU and A&M have six of the top 10 individual leaders after the second day of competition. Others scoring 73 included Charlotte Wendner (NU), Kendall Dye (OU), Elise Houtz (KSU) and Rosalyn Kim (TTU).
The final round of the 2009 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship tees off at 8 a.m. CT on Sunday, April 26. Admission is free to the public. Links to live scoring of the championship can be found online at Big12Sports.com.
