After shooting six under par in the first round of competition, Baylor sits atop the leaderboard of the 2015 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship at the Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.
Baylor shot a round-leading 282 in day one of competition to be in first place with a commanding seven stroke lead over Texas Tech who posted a 289 one-over par first round. The Bears' score was the lowest first round score in Big 12 Championship history and second-lowest round score behind Oklahoma’s third round 278 in the 2014 Championship. Iowa State rounded out the top three on the first day leader boards with a 290 two-over round on the par 72, 6,246-yard Dominion course.
Top seed Oklahoma State stands in fourth place following the first day of competition with a 291 three-over par score followed by Oklahoma who shot a 295 (+7). TCU finished one stroke behind Oklahoma after carding a 296 (+8) to finish four strokes ahead of Texas who shot 300 (+12). Kansas and Kansas State tied for eighth after shooting 301 (+13).
In individual play, Kansas’ Pornvipa Sakdee tied the Big 12 record for a round with a 68 to be at -4 for the Championship. Oklahoma State’s Kanzie Neisen is in second after shooting a 69 (-3).
Action will resume tomorrow morning with Kansas, K-State and Texas teeing off at 8:00 a.m. followed by TCU, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State at 9:00 a.m. The final group of Iowa State, Texas Tech and Baylor will begin at 10:00 a.m.
