Medelberg, Brown, Escobedo Earn Soccer Honors

Klasey Medelberg (Iowa State), Paige Brown (Texas) and Kyle Escobedo (Oklahoma) are the latest recipients of the Big 12 weekly soccer awards. All three student-athletes earned accolades for the first time during the 2016 campaign.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Klasey Medelberg, Iowa State, F, So., St. Louis, Mo.

  • Netted the game-winning goal in both of the Cyclones wins last week.
  • Led ISU to its third conference victory of the year with her goal in the second overtime.
  • Against UNI, launched a shot near the corner flag that carried into the side-netting for the game-winner.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Paige Brown, Texas, GK, Sr., Jackson, Mo.

  • Played 180 minutes in net over two games as UT notched its first league win of the season.
  • Totaled nine saves, including six in the win over Texas Tech.
  • Posted her fourth shutout of the season in the victory over TTU.


FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Kyle Escobedo, Oklahoma, F/MF, Fr., Phoenix, Ariz.

  • Scored a late goal in the 89th minute to give Oklahoma a 1-0 victory at Cal State Northridge.
  • Goal was the first versus CSUN in the last 450:03 minutes and only the eighth the team had allowed all season.
  • The score was also the first allowed by CSUN over more than 809 minutes at home.
