K-State and West Virginia Pick Up Week 13 Awards

For the fourth time this season, West Virginia’s Alek Manoah was named Big 12 Baseball Pitcher of the Week. K-State’s Terrence Spurlin earned Player of the Week recognition, while teammate Chris Ceballos was tabbed Newcomer of the Week. The Week 13 honorees are selected by a five-person media panel.

Manoah strung together another strong performance in West Virginia’s 6-0 shutout win over K-State. He fanned 13 batters and held the Wildcats scoreless in eight innings pitched. Manoah allowed only one baserunner to reach second base, as the junior improved to 7-3 on the season. He is the fourth pitcher in Conference history to win the weekly honor four times in a season with the most recent being Oklahoma State's Michael Freeman in 2015.

Spurlin led K-State with a .545 batting average (6-of-11) and a .600 on-base percentage in four contests. The sophomore infielder registered back-to-back three-hit games against West Virginia. His two homers and four RBIs propelled the Wildcats to an 8-6 win over No. 23 West Virginia.

Ceballos, a junior transfer, hit .400 (6-of-15), while registering a .867 slugging percentage and capping the week with a pair of homers and six RBIs. In the win over No. 23 West Virginia, the catcher connected on 2-of-4 with a double, home run and two RBIs.

Ceballos and Spurlin are first-time honorees.
