IRVING, Texas - For the final awards of the season, West Virginia’s Darius Hill was tabbed Big 12 Player of the Week, TCU’s Nick Lodolo was named Pitcher of the Week and Texas Tech’s Micah Dallas earned Newcomer of the Week accolades.The Week 14 honorees are selected by a five-person media panel.
Hill led the Big 12 with a .692 batting average, eight RBIs, five doubles and a .750 on-base percentage in West Virginia’s wins over Pitt and George Washington. The senior right fielder registered a pair of doubles and two RBIs in the Mountaineers’ 9-4 victory over rival Pitt.
Following a leadoff double in the second, Lodolo retired 18 of the next 19 Texas Tech batters he faced. He registered 10 strikeouts and finished with 13 in eight innings pitched.
Dallas tossed seven scoreless innings in the opener against TCU. The freshman hurler did not allow a base runner to reach third and faced the minimum in 4-of-7 innings. He matched a career-high with eight strikeouts in the contest.
Hill and Dallas are first-time honorees, while Lodolo collects his second award of the season.
