Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts was honored as the Maxwell Award Player of the Week due to his outstanding performance against Houston in Week 1.
The Maxwell Award Player of the Week honor recognizes overall performance on offense, defense or special teams.
Making his Oklahoma debut, Hurts accounted for 508 yards of offense to Houston's 408 in a 49-31 home win over the Cougars on Sunday. Hurts was 20 for 23 through the air for 332 yards and three touchdowns while running 16 times for a career-high 176 yards (11.0 average) and three more scores.
Hurts was recognized as the Big 12’s Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week.
