After the second day of the 2021 Big 12 Men’s Golf Match Play Tournament, Texas Tech leads Pool A while Texas leads Pool B. The competition is being played at the par-71, 7,007-yard The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas.

In Pool A, No. 1 seed Oklahoma tied with No. 5 seed Kansas in the morning and sits in second place with seven points. No. 4 seed Texas Tech beat No. 9 seed Kansas State 4-1-1 in the afternoon to jump ahead of the Sooners and take the lead going into the final day of the tournament. No. 8 seed West Virginia sits in third place with four points after defeating Kansas State 4-2-0 this morning and tying Kansas this afternoon. Kansas is in fourth place with two points and Kansas State is in fifth with zero points.

In Pool B, No. 2 seed Oklahoma State tied No. 6 seed TCU this morning and was off this afternoon, ending up with seven points heading into the final day of competition. No. 3 seed Texas was off in the morning and bested No. 10 seed Iowa State 3-0-3 in the afternoon session to take the lead in Pool A with nine points. Iowa State and No. 7 seed Baylor are tied for third with three points each and TCU sits in fifth with one point.

Pool play will continue Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. CT which features the top two teams in each pool squaring off to advance to the championship matchup later in the afternoon. Texas Tech and Texas both need a win or tie against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State to advance to the championship match. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would need to post victories.

During the pool play portion, each team will play four matches. Teams will get three points for a win, one point for a draw, and zero points for a loss. At the conclusion of pool play, each team will be ranked 1-5 within their pool based on the amount of points accrued.

During the championship round of day three, the championship match will feature the team with the highest point total from Pool A with the team with the highest point total from Pool B. The third-place match will be between the teams with the second-highest point totals from their respective pools. Each team will participate during the championship afternoon.
