Houston’s Weibel and Baylor’s Li Take Home Big 12 Golfer of the Month Honors

Houston’s Hudson Weibel (men’s) and Baylor’s Yurang Li (women’s) were tabbed as the Big 12 Golfers of the Month for October.

Weibel won his second individual title of the season to open his October slate at the Trinity Forest Invitational. The redshirt senior from Dallas shot a -15 and secured the victory with a 40-foot birdie on a second-hole playoff. To finish off the fall season, Weibel lowered his score each round in the Bryson Invitational to tie for 21st. He carded 3-under 213, the highest finish for Houston. This is the first monthly Conference honor of Weibel’s career and the first Cougar to earn the award since joining the Big 12 in 2023.

Li had a great showing with two individual wins and a runner-up finish in Baylor’s three-tournament slate during October. The junior transfer from Illinois took home second place, as she carded a 2-over 72 on Monday and a 3-over 73 on Tuesday. At the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Li took home her first individual title of the season. She shot a 67, a 72, and a school record-tying 65 on a par 72 course. She carried over her success to the Bear Brawl, shooting another 65, followed by a par-70 to lock up her second title of the season and to cap off the fall. This is Li’s first Big 12 monthly accolade, becoming the first female Bear to win the honor since the 2022-23 season.
