ISU’s Chookaew, OSU’s Fang Nab Big 12 Golfer of the Month Honors

Iowa State’s Pammy Chookaew (women’s) and Oklahoma State’s Ethan Fang (men’s) were selected as Big 12 Golfers of the Month for September.

Chookaew won the Wolverine Invitational, highlighting a month with three top-five finishes individually and helping the Cyclones to three top five-finishes as a team. The senior from Thailand won the event at the Allister McKenzie-designed University of Michigan Golf Club by one stroke, pacing the 81-woman field at -5. The two-time All-Big 12 Championship Team selection tied for fifth at the Schooner Fall Classic, firing a 6-under 204 before finishing her month with a runner-up finish at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, carding a 8-under 208. It is the first monthly honor of Chookaew’s career, and the first Cyclone woman to earn the award since April 2024.

Fang continued his great run of form by taking co-medalist honors at the Carmel Cup, making three loops around Spyglass Hill at a combined -11 under in his 2025-26 season debut. The junior from Plano, Texas led the Cowboys at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, helping the program to its sixth team win in seven tournaments, a span that includes the 2025 Big 12 Championship and NCAA Championship. Individually, Fang tied for ninth with a 1-under 209, signing for a final-round 66 to help OSU’s 10-stroke final round comeback. The month continued a spectacular run for Fang, who claimed victories at the Amateur Championship at Royal St. George’s in England, and a team victory at the Walker Cup, held at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, California. It is the first monthly honor of Fang’s career, and he is the second consecutive Cowboy to take home monthly honors, joining Preston Stout from April 2025.
