The 2021 Big 12 Equestrian Championship is slated for this weekend, March 26-27, at Baylor’s Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco, Texas.
Four Big 12 programs (Baylor, Oklahoma State, TCU and affiliate member Fresno State) will compete in four Equestrian disciplines: Fences, Flat, Horsemanship and Reining.
Baylor is the defending champion after winning the title in 2019. The 2020 Championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oklahoma State earned the top seed followed by No. 2 Fresno State, No. 3 TCU and No. 4 Baylor. All four squads rank within the top-10 NCEA rankings: No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 5 Fresno State, No. 7 TCU and No. 10 Baylor.
Top-seeded Oklahoma State and No. 4-seed Baylor open the semifinal round with Reining at 10 a.m. CT, while No. 2 Fresno State and No. 3 TCU compete in Fences to start the day. On Saturday, the consolation round begins at 9:30 a.m. CT while the championship round starts 30 minutes after the consolation round is complete.
Due to venue size, health protocols and CDC guidelines, the Big 12 Conference members have determined fans will not be permitted at this year’s Championship.
The Championship will be streamed online both days at Big12Sports.com.
