IRVING, Texas – Texas Tech’s Vivian Gray was named Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Texas’ Rori Harmon picked up the Conference’s Freshman of the Week award for games ending February 20, as voted on by a five-person media panel.
Gray averaged 29.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals over two games, including a 97-87 Lady Raider win over No. 15 Oklahoma. Gray had 35 points against the Sooners and surpassed the 2,000-point mark for her career in the win. She scored 23 points against Kansas Saturday, and finished the week shooting 40.8 percent from the field, 57.1 percent on 3-pointers and made 82.4 percent of her free throws. It is her fourth Big 12 Player of the Week honor, and her first of the season.
Harmon took the Conference lead with her fourth Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor of the season, coming off of a week where she led the team with 19.5 points in two wins. In the win against No. 6 Iowa State, she had 20 points, six rebounds, nine assists and six steals, becoming the first Big 12 player with at least those totals in each category since 2001. On Sunday, she had 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in a win at West Virginia. In addition to her 19.5 points, she averaged 7.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 4.5 steals and shot 55.6 percent on the week.
