Three Sooner freshmen captured Big 12 weekly gymnastics honors as Jordan Bowers earned her second Gymnast of the Week recognition while Danae Fletcher picked up her first Event Specialist of the Week nod and Danielle Sievers was named Newcomer of the Week for the third time this season. All three were instrumental in helping the Sooners defeat No. 1 Michigan (198.475-197.900) and pick up a quad meet win against Air Force, SEMO and TWU.

Bowers earned a perfect 10 on vault against the Wolverines, the first of her career, and became the fifth freshman in program history to earn a perfect score. She set another career-high with a 9.975 on bars and helped the Sooners shatter the program record with a 49.825. On floor, she tied her career-high with a 9.95 to post the second-highest score of the meet. On Sunday, the native of Lincoln, Nebraska was nearly perfect again on vault as she earned a 9.975 in Denton, Texas. Bowers finished first in bars with a 9.950 to earn her fourth event title of the week. She has six overall Big 12 weekly honors this season and is just one shy of tying the all-time weekly awards mark in a single season by a Big 12 gymnast.

Fletcher debuted an upgraded Yurchenko 1.5 vault and stuck it for a career-high 9.95. The Philadelphia native won the event title on floor with a near-perfect 9.975 to set another career mark. On Sunday, the freshman’s score of 9.925 on floor earned her an event title while helping the Sooners to their third-best floor score of the season (49.600).  

Sievers started with career-highs of 9.925 on bars and floor while adding a 9.825 on vault against Michigan. The freshman was a part of the program-record setting uneven bars lineup that posted a 49.825 to move OU back to No. 1 in the nation in the event while tying the NCAA record. Against Air Force, SEMO and TWU, the four-time Big 12 weekly award winner earned a 9.9 on vault and bars and tallied another 9.925 on floor.
