Texas Sweeps Races for 11th Big 12 Rowing Championship

Texas won all five races to collect the 2022 Big 12 Rowing Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA field. This is the Longhorns’ seventh consecutive Conference title and 11th in the last 13 years the event was held.

UT totaled 98 points in the Championship’s second appearance at Austin’s Walter E. Long Lake. Alabama rowed to silver medals in the first and second four and took the bronze medal in the First Eight, Second Eight and Third Eight to place second in the team standings with 73 points. Tennessee was close behind in third place with 68 points after claiming the silver in the 1V8 and 2V8. The remaining standings included 4. Oklahoma (47 points), 5. Kansas (45), 6. Kansas State (40) and 7. West Virginia (21). Final results are available at this link.

Big 12 squads will learn their NCAA fate on Tuesday, May 17 at 4 p.m. CT in a selection show on NCAA.com. The NCAA Championship will be held May 27-29 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida. Texas is the defending national champion.

The All-Big 12 Team is listed below and is selected based on Championship finish. Individual honors for Big 12 Rower, Newcomer and Coach of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, May 18.
