Kansas’ 1V8+ Picked As Big 12’s Best Boat After Sunflower Sweep

Kansas’ 1V8+ was selected as Big 12 Boat of the Week after helping the Jayhawks to their third consecutive victory in the Dillons Sunflower Showdown.

The varsity eight, with coxswain Ruby Moritz-Cammack, closed out the 22-0 sweep of Kansas State with a 6:47.07 time at Wyandotte County Lake Park, besting the Wildcats by over 14 seconds. The crew of Kara Lyons, Kathryn Borthwick, Gretchen Schmierer Knust, Tya Drennen, Eva Robinson, Gracie Shepherd, Sophie Pense and Claire Van Mater also bested Creighton, who finished third in the race.

It is KU’s first boat of the week honor of the season, and the program’s first since last season’s Dillons Sunflower Showdown.
