Texas swept the swimming and diving awards for the third time this season as Jake Foster (Swimmer), Nick Harris (Diver) and Will Chan (Newcomer) collected the men’s awards while Kelly Pash (Swimmer), Bridget O’Neil (Diver) and Lydia Jacoby (Newcomer) completed the women’s awards.
Foster led the way for the Longhorns and earned his first career Big 12 weekly award as he completed the sweep of the breaststroke events. The senior started the meet with a top-four finish in the 100 IM (49.01) before beating Chan to the wall in the 100 breast for the top time (53.49) and Texas’ second win of the night. He began the second day of the meet with a second-place result in the 400-yard medley relay (3:10.16; 52.71 breast split) as the second leg before picking up his second win of the meet in the 200 breast (1:56.08). The Cincinnati native concluded the meet with a second-place result in the 200 IM (1:45.79) behind only his teammate and brother, Carson Foster.
Pash took home five first-place finishes and added three more runner-up results as the Longhorns defeated No. 5 Ohio State and No. 6 Alabama. She earned a pair of individual victories in the 100 IM (54.28) and 200 free (1:46.45) on the first day to go with two runner-up finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:38.14; 22.35 free split) and 400 free relay (3:16.37; 48.83 split). The Carmel, Indiana native added another win as the anchor leg in the 400 medley relay (3:32.85; 48.50 free split), three seconds faster than the second-place relay. Pash concluded the meet with wins in the 100 free (48.37) and 200 IM (1:58.24) before her final runner-up finish in the 200 free relay (1:29.34; 21.78 split). This is Pash’s third Big 12 award this season and seventh career.
Harris spearheaded the Texas trio of divers in the 1-meter as he earned the highest score of the event (379.95), with teammates Brendan McCourt and Noah Duperre rounding out the top-three. The freshman then added a runner-up placement in the 3-meter with a score of 395.95 to secure his first career Big 12 weekly award.
O’Neil opened the competition with a win in the 3-meter (366.60), scoring almost 40 points ahead of runner-up and teammate Hailey Hernandez. She also added a second-place finish in the 1-meter (301.15) and was one of two divers to score over the 300-point mark in the event. O’Neil has won the award five times this season and seven times in her career.
Chan registered two top-three placements in the 100 breast and 200 medley relay. The graduate student clocked a 23.98 breast split in the 200 medley relay (1:27.15; 23.98 breast split) and a time of 54.22 in the 100 breast. Chan also added a 53.99 breast split in the 400 medley (3:17.67) in a seventh-place finish.
Jacoby started the meet with a breast split of 27.03 in the 200 medley (1:38.14) for a runner-up finish before rattling off three consecutive victories. The freshman notched a pair of individual wins in the 100 breast (59.21) and 200 breast (2:11.14) before winning the 400 medley relay (3:32.85) as the second leg (59.05 breast split). Jacoby was the only participant to register a sub-60 second swim in the 100 breast.
