FSU, OSU and TCU Split February Riders of the Month

TCU collected three Conference awards for the month of February while Fresno State and Oklahoma State each picked up one. TCU’s Sydney Berube (Co-Fences), Jessica McAllister (Horsemanship) and Mattie Dukes (Reining) all earned their first honor of the season as TCU collected two ranked wins over top 10 teams in the month of February. Oklahoma State’s Sydney North (Co-Fences) and Fresno State’s Sara Tuck (Flat) wrapped up the honors to give their programs their second and third awards of the season, respectively.

Berube concluded the month with an unblemished 4-0 Fences record, a team-high, to improve her season record to 10-2 in the discipline. Her 10 wins is tied for the team-lead with Ashleigh Scully as Berube has won seven straight. The Bedford, New Hampshire native sported an average margin of victory of 3.25 points for the month and earned MOP honors after scoring a career-high of 87 against No. 3 Texas A&M.

McAllister posted a perfect 4-0 record in Horsemanship to boost her season record to 9-1 and career mark to 31-8-3. The junior garnered MOP honors against back-to-back ranked opponents (No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 7 Oklahoma State) to bring her season total to five, including a career-best Horsemanship score of 80 against Oklahoma State. McAllister was the high-scorer in her discipline in three of the four competitions for the month of February. It is her third career Conference award and first since October 2021.

Dukes increased her win-streak to 10 matches and now sits at 10-1-1 on the season and 25-14-2 in her four years at TCU. The senior is 6-1-1 in reining against ranked opponents in 2022-23 and was the top-scorer in TCU’s 11-point road victory over No. 9 Fresno State. It is her second career Big 12 honor with her first coming back in October 2021.

North picked up her first Conference honor (Co-Fences) as she finished the month 3-0 against No. 5 Georgia, No. 8 Baylor and No. 2 TCU with two MOPs. Her average margin of victory was 16.7 points and she posted meet-high scores in Fences in two of her three meets. She scored an average of 83.3 points in the three combined meets.

Tuck won all three of her individual matches and didn’t score lower than an 88 in the month of February. Her scores of 88 and 90 were the top two rides in the Flat this season for FSU while her score of 90 against No. 2 TCU ranks inside the Top 10 in program history. The Carmel, California native earned MOP honors in all three competitions, including her MOP ride against Minnesota Crookston that helped Fresno State earn its first sweep in the flat since 2020.
