DALLAS – Oklahoma State posted a 54-hole score of 868 to claim its 11
th Big 12 title and its second in three years. The Cowgirls battled to the end on a cloudy Sunday afternoon at Dallas Athletic Club’s 6,264-yard, par-72 course finishing 4-over par as a team.
Tied for first place with OSU for most of the third round, Baylor placed second (875, +11). TCU had the lowest final-round score (290, +2) and finished third while Iowa State’s 293 (+5) in the final round secured a fourth-place finish for the Cyclones.
The Cowgirls earned the Big 12’s automatic qualification into the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship after taking the lead in the second round (278) and holding steady on the final day firing an 8-over 296. This will mark the team’s third-straight appearance in the NCAA Championship. Oklahoma State Coach Greg Robertson has led the Cowgirls to two Conference teams titles in his four seasons at his alma mater.
OSU junior Maddison Hinson-Tolchard claimed the individual championship after scoring a 54-hole total of 212 (-4). Following former teammate Lianna Bailey’s title last year, she is the ninth Cowgirl to win and the seventh to finish atop the player leaderboard in a year where OSU claimed the team title. Hinson-Tolchard tied for first place during the second round and won the title outright after an even-par performance in the third round highlighted by a clutch putt on 18. Iowa State’s Pimkwan Chookaew finished second, just a stroke back with her score of 213 (-3). OU’s Mikhaela Fortuna and OSU’s Clemence Martin tied for third shooting 1-under par 215. The top 10 finishers, including ties, were named to the 2023 All-Big 12 Tournament Team.
The 2023 Division I Women’s golf selections will be announced Wednesday, April 26 at Noon CT on the Golf Channel.
