Oklahoma State’s 2022-23 Big 12 Athlete of the Year Nominees

The 2022-23 Big 12 Athlete of the Year nominees will be featured each day at 10 a.m. CT and 2 p.m. CT, listed in alphabetical order by school through Friday, July 28.

Each institution nominated one male and one female athlete of any classification that competed for their institution during the school year. Student-athletes were required to be in good academic standing and had to be from a league-sponsored sport.

The 10 schools that competed during the 2022-23 academic year are eligible.

The winners will be announced Monday, July 31. Stay tuned to Big12Sports.com and the league’s social media platforms to see the rest of the candidates.

This afternoon’s featured candidates are Oklahoma State’s Fouad Messaoudi and Maddison Hinson-Tolchard.

Accomplishments
  • Was an NCAA individual champion in the 3,000 meters and distance medley relay.
  • Earned All-America honors in cross country, 3,000 meters, distance medley relay and 1,500 meters.
  • A Big 12 individual champion in the mile, distance medley relay and the 1,500 meters.
  • The indoor USTFCCCA Region Athlete of the Year and the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year in cross country.
  • A 2022-23 Academic All-Big 12 First Team and a USTFCCCA All-Scholar selection.

Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, Golf

Accomplishments
  • Selected as a WGCA First Team All-American.
  • Named Big 12 Golfer of the Year for the second consecutive year.
  • Led Oklahoma State to the Big 12 team title while capturing the Big 12 individual crown.
  • Had seven top-10 finishes in 11 tournaments played, including placing fourth at the NCAA Championships, OSU’s best finisher at the event in 13 years.
  • Was a 2023 CSC Academic All-District and All-Big 12 Academic First Team selection.
