Texas Wins Eighth Big 12 Women’s Golf Title

HOCKLEY, Texas – The University of Texas claimed its eighth Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship and second title in three seasons after three rounds this week at The Clubs at Houston Oaks. The Longhorns tallied a final 54-hole score of two under 851 to claim the title.

Iowa State finished runner-up with a total score of 863 (+11). The Cyclones’ second-place finish matched the program’s highest finish at a Big 12 Championship (2017). Two shots separated third-place K-State (866, +14) from fourth-place Baylor (868, +16) after both programs were tied for the first two rounds. Texas Tech (869,+17) recorded the round’s lowest score to claim fifth.

Iowa State’s Liyana Durisic and Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn were crowned the individual co-champions, carding a 54-hole total of 207. The pair ended Thursday tied for first while Chul-Ak-Sorn pulled away on Friday to lead all players. They are the second and third Cyclones to earn the Big 12 women’s golf individual title, following Celia Barquin Arozamena’s victory in 2018.

UT’s Lauren Kim and Farah O’Keefe tied for third at three under 210 while Texas Tech’s Gala Dumez and Houston’s Moa Svedenskiold tied for fifth with a final score of 212 (-1). Baylor’s Sera Hasegawa, UCF’s Jess Baker and Pimpisa Sisutham and Oklahoma’s Reagan Chaney rounded out the top 10 and were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Big 12 teams will wait for their fate in being selected for the NCAA Tournament Regionals which will be announced Wednesday, April 24 at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT on the Golf Channel.
