UT Headlines 2023-24 Big 12 Women’s Golf Season Awards

The 2024 All-Big 12 Women’s Golf Team has been released along with the season awards. Texas captured the individual honors with Farah O’Keefe claiming Player and Freshman of the Year while Ryan Murphy was awarded Coach of the Year.

The head coaches voted on this season’s awards and were not allowed to vote for their own golfers. The co-medalists of the Big 12 Championship were automatically named to the team.

Texas leads the All-Big 12 team with three selections followed by two from first-year member UCF and Iowa State. Houston, K-State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State had one selection each. The team also features four freshmen, tying the second-most number of first-year golfers on any Big 12 women’s golf teams (2009, 2011 and 2023).

O’Keefe is the third freshman in Big 12 history to receive the Player and Freshman (previously named Newcomer) of the Year awards in the same season while being the fourth overall to accomplish the feat. She posted five Top 10 finishes this season and earned her first win as a co-medalist at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The Austin, Texas native posted an adjusted 69.3 stroke average and had 20 of 28 rounds at par or better during her freshman campaign to end the season ranked at No. 18 nationally. O’Keefe was named Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Month in September and February.

Murphy collected his fifth Coach of the Year accolade after leading the Longhorns to a Big 12 title, the program’s eighth. In his tenth season as head coach, Texas qualified for its eighth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance. The team posted five Top 2 finishes, including a second-place finish in the Bermuda Run NCAA Regional.
