Inaugural Big 12 Lacrosse Preseason Honors Unveiled

Florida was selected as the unanimous preseason favorite in a vote by the league’s head coaches in the 2025 Big 12 Lacrosse Preseason Poll. The Gators had five players selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. UF enters the Big 12 after making an appearance in the NCAA semifinals in 2024.

Lacrosse became a Conference sponsored sport ahead of the 2024-25 academic year. Schools were not allowed to vote for their own team or student-athletes.

Colorado was second in the poll, receiving one first-place vote. The Buffaloes added nine players to their roster after a 13-6 finish in 2024. Arizona State came in at third after three players made the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.

Cincinnati came in at fourth followed by UC Davis in fifth and San Diego State in sixth.

Colorado’s Madeline Pisani was selected as the Conference’s Preseason Attack Player of the Year while Florida’s Kaitlyn Davies was named the league’s Preseason Midfielder of the Year. The Gators gained two more preseason Big 12 awards as Theresa Bragg was awarded Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Elyse Finnelle was tabbed as the league’s Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. Arizona State’s Anna Viglione was chosen as the Big 12 Preseason Draw Specialist of the Year.

Pisani was named an Honorable Mention USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American to start her 2025 season. She finished as the top goal scorer for CU last year with 67 goals.

Davies, a midfielder from Wayne, New Jersey, finished her sophomore season tallying 13 ground balls, 15 draw controls, eight caused turnovers and one goal. She was named to the 2024 IWLCA South Region Second Team along with earning All-AAC Second Team honors.

Bragg collected 2024 All-AAC Second Team recognition while starting all 23 games for the Gators during her sophomore year. The native of Severna Park, Maryland earned placement on the 2023 and 2024 SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Finnelle, the 2024 AAC Goalkeeper of the Year, totaled 156 saves, 35 ground balls, and 7 caused turnovers on a .529 save percentage last season. Her save percentage finished first in the AAC and fourth in the country. Finnelle was named to the IWLCA All-Region South First Team and earned a spot on the 2024 Inside Lacrosse All-American Third Team.

As a freshman, Viglione totaled 60 draw controls on the year, the sixth most in a single season in Arizona State program history. Viglione played 18 games for the Sun Devils last season and ended the year with four goals and one assist.

Each team in the Conference has representation on the Preseason All-Big 12 Lacrosse Team. The regular season begins Feb. 7 while league play will commence Friday, March 28.

The top four teams in the regular season standings will qualify for the 2025 Big 12 Lacrosse Championship held in Boulder, Colorado at Prentup Field. The single elimination Championship will have semifinals Thursday, May 1 and the final on Saturday, May 3. Times for both days will be announced at a later date. The winner of the league’s postseason Championship will be an automatic qualifier for the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
