Arizona State Men and Houston Women Lead After Day 1 of Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Arizona State swept the four relay events, while the TCU men and the Houston women topped the diving events on the first night of the 2025 Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championship at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.

Arizona State's women captured both the 200 medley relay (1:35.63) and 800 freestyle relay titles (7:04.24). The Sun Devils’ 200 medley relay squad of Miriam Sheehan, Iza Adame, Julia Ullmann and Caroline Bentz clocked a time of 1:35.63, securing the top spot followed by a tie for the silver medal between Arizona and Cincinnati at 1:36.16. In the 800 freestyle relay, Erin Milligan, Charli Brown, Grace Lindberg and Alexa Reyna combined for a winning time of 7:04.24 for ASU followed by Arizona (7:11.07) in second and Houston rounding out the podium with the bronze medal (7:11.96).

On the men’s swimming side, Arizona State set a Conference record after winning the 200 medley relay behind a team of Lucien Vergnes, Andy Dobrzanski, Ilya Kharun, and Jonny Kulow in 1:21.16. Arizona finished runner-up (1:23.79) followed by TCU (1:24.41). The Sun Devils also set a Big 12 Championship record in the 800 freestyle relay as Tiago Behar, Quin Seider, Filip Senc-Samardzic and Patrick Sammon finished in 6:08.54. Arizona earned its second silver medal of the night on the men’s swimming side while Utah finished third.

TCU secured the men’s team diving title with a score of 407.45, edging out Arizona (340.55) and West Virginia (336.80) to break another Conference and Big 12 Championship record. In the women’s team diving event, Houston finished first with 306.00 points, followed by Utah (295.30) and TCU (284.80).
