Oklahoma State’s Megan Bloodworth (player) and Ruby Meylan (pitcher) were named Big 12 Softball’s Players of the Week for games through March 2.
Bloodworth batted .556 during the week as the Cowgirls went undefeated in seven games. The senior registered 10 hits in 18 at-bats, which included her home run that pushed OSU 1-0 over then-No. 18/16 Nebraska. Bloodworth scored eight runs while she led the league in total bases and home runs with 19 and three, respectively. The Cordele, Georgia native also tallied eight RBIs during her first career Big 12 award-winning performance.
Meylan held her own in the circle, picking up six wins and a complete game as she faced six of OSU’s seven opponents during the week. The Washington transfer pitched 23.1 innings where she tabbed a league-most 30 strikeouts during the week, which include nine each against then-No. 18/16 Nebraska and Tulsa. She acquired a 0.00 ERA while holding opponents to a .068 batting average on five hits and was named the NFCA/Wilson DI National Pitcher of the Week. This is her first Conference accolade, and she is the second Cowgirl pitcher to earn the award this season.
