WACO, Texas – No. 2 seed Arizona and No. 4 seed UCF advanced to the final of the 2025 Big 12 Men’s Tennis Championship after earning victories Saturday at the Hurd Tennis Center. The Wildcats captured a 4-2 win over the Bears to move on to Sunday while the Knights finished off the semifinals with a 4-3 result against the Horned Frogs. The Championship match is set for Sunday at 4 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
No. 2 Arizona 4, No. 3 Baylor 2
The Bears started by claiming the doubles point with strong performances at the top two courts. Oskar Brostrom Poulsen and Marko Miladinovic rolled to a 6-1 win at No. 1, while Devin Badenhorst and Luc Koenig secured the point with a 6-4 result on court two.
Arizona responded with the first three points in singles by Jay Friend (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) on court two, Alexander Rozin (6-1, 7-6 (7-5)) on court five and Colton Smith (6-4, 7-6 (8-6)) on court one. Alexandru Chirita added a second Baylor point on the board with a three-set win (6-2, 1-6, 7-5) at No. 4 before Casper Christensen secured the match for Arizona with a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6.
No. 4 UCF 4, No. 1 TCU 3
TCU took the doubles point behind victories by Lui Maxted and Filip Apltauer at No. 2 and Jack Pinnington and Julian Alonso at No. 3. The Knights' duo of Yassine Dlimi and Emilio Sanchez (7-6 (9-7)) collected the doubles win on court one.
TCU extended the lead to 3-0 with singles victories by Duncan Chan (6-2, 6-1) and Maxted (6-2, 6-3) at the fifth and second courts, respectively. UCF then notched four consecutive points to earn the win. Dlimi got the Knights’ scoring started with a point on the top court (6-1, 7-6 (7-3)). Paul Colin tacked on a second point for UCF on court three with a win by retirement after splitting the first two sets (3-6, 6-1) before Santiago Giamichelle evened the match at 3-3 on court four (6-2, 0-6, 6-3). Nicolas Oliveira provided the clinching point for the Knights with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory on court six.
