TTU’s Hurtova & Utah’s Palacios Tabbed For Big 12 March Golf Awards

Texas Tech’s Klara Hurtova (women’s) and Utah’s Gabriel Palacios (men’s) earned Big 12 Golfer of the Month honors for March.
 
Palacios captured his second consecutive monthly award, highlighted by a first-place finish at The Goodwin. The sophomore was part of a five-way tie for first in the 164-player field at Stanford Golf Course, finishing the event with a 5-under 205. At the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Georgia, the Guatemala City native helped the Utes to a tournament victory by one stroke over No. 11 Florida, as Utah came in with a -22 score for the event. He added a tie for fourth at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate and a T13 at the Desert Mountain Collegiate, wrapping up the month with four top-25 finishes.
 
Hurtova won a pair of tournaments in March, while leading the Red Raiders to a team title as well. The Policná, Czechia native captured medalist honors at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, navigating Forest Hills Golf Club with a 5-under 139 to win the 36-hole event by three strokes. The sophomore followed up with a playoff win at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia as the Red Raiders also won the team title by four strokes. Over three events in the month, she averaged 71.75 strokes and increased her national ranking by 86 spots. She is the first Red Raider woman to be honored as golfer of the month since March 2022.
