Baylor’s Alexis Rutledge (co-horsemanship), Oklahoma State’s Riley Hogan (flat) and TCU’s Ashleigh Scully (fences), Elizabeth West (co-horsemanship) and Jessica McAllister (reining) took home the final Big 12 Equestrian monthly awards. Fresno State’s Shelby Robinette was named the Big 12 Equestrian Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Scully ended the regular season 3-0 in March before adding two more wins in the Big 12 Championship. Her highest score of the month (87) came against Fresno State and resulted in MOP honors at the Conference Championship for the graduate student. At the Championship, she was the lone Horned Frog to win her point in fences against OSU in the final as she finished with a score of 84.33. Her five wins in March increased her career total to 55, a new national record for fences.
Hogan concluded March with a 4-1 record in flat and a 2-0 showing at the Championship. The senior averaged 84.06 over five meets in March and garnered MOP recognition against No. 3 TCU with a score of 86. Her month was highlighted by two performances at the Championship when she finished with scores of 89 and a career-high 90.33 against No. 9 Baylor and No. 3 TCU, respectively. The two wins improved her win total to 11 in the discipline this season and brought her win margin for the month to 4.12.
Rutledge tallied a 4-0 record with an average score of 71.875 in her last four rides. The senior’s margin of victory was 6.41 for the three regular-season rides before winning her lone ride at the Championship 75-0. She earned MOP honors against TCU to start the month with a 75-73.25 win, helping the Bears win the discipline 3-2. Rutledge ended the season with a 10-2 record.
West closed the year with a 4-1 record in March and a 2-0 record at the Championship. She averaged a score of 75.4 in her final three regular season rides. The senior added rides of 74.17 and 76.83 in the Championship on her way to her first career MOP recognition. Her ride against Fresno State (77.25) was her high for the month, aiding the Horned Frogs to a 14-6 team victory.
McAllister culminated the regular season on a three-ride winning streak with wins over Baylor, Fresno State and Oklahoma State. The graduate student added MOP honors in the regular season against Baylor (71.5) and Oklahoma State (72.5). Her point against Oklahoma State helped solidify the team’s win and capture the No. 1 seed at the Big 12 Championship. In the semifinal round against Fresno State, McAllister picked up another win to guide the Horned Frogs to the Championship final.
Robinette became the second Bulldog in program history named the Big 12 Equestrian Scholar-Athlete of the Year, joining Ana Bertozzi who won in 2022. The senior earning her master’s in sports administration, competed in all 14 meets for the Bulldogs and boasts a 4.00 GPA.
