The 2024-25 Big 12 Athlete of the Year nominees will be featured in alphabetical order by school starting Monday, July 14, through Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m. CT and 2 p.m. CT.
Each institution nominated one male and one female athlete of any classification who competed for their institution during the 2024-25 school year. Student-athletes were required to be in good academic standing and must have participated in a league-sponsored sport.
The 16 full-membership schools that competed during the 2024-25 academic year are eligible.
The winners will be announced Thursday, July 24. Stay tuned to Big12Sports.com and the league’s social media platforms to see the rest of the candidates.
This afternoon’s featured candidates are Oklahoma State’s Wyatt Hendrickson and Emma Robbins.
Oklahoma State Male Athlete of the Year Candidate
Wyatt Hendrickson, Wrestling
Sr., Newton, Kan.
Accomplishments
- Won the NCAA heavyweight title after defeating No. 1 Gable Steveson, who was seeking his fourth consecutive undefeated season.
- Became the third Cowboy in program history to win the Dan Hodge Trophy, finishing the season 27-0 with 21 bonus-point wins (13 pins, 8 tech falls). Nine of those victories came against All-Americans.
- Big 12 Heavyweight Champion who clinched the team title for OSU with a win in the final match of the Championship.
- Holds the rank of second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and is a member of the World Class Athlete Program, which allows service members to train for the Olympics.
Oklahoma State Female Athlete of the Year Candidate
Emma Robbins, Track and Field
R-Sr., Anaheim, Calif.
- Earned First Team All-America honors in the hammer throw with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
- Broke the school record in the weight and hammer throw a combined five times during the season.
- Finished as a Big 12 runner-up in both the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer throw.
- Earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Management) and is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration at Oklahoma State.
