TCU and West Virginia Selected to Host Games in Opening Rounds of 2026 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament

The NCAA Women’s Basketball Selection Committee announced today that TCU and West Virginia were named among the committee’s Top 16 teams for the 2026 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. Postseason basketball will be headed to Fort Worth and Morgantown next weekend for the first and second rounds of March Madness.

The 16 teams were released in alphabetical order. The full order of teams and the complete tournament field will be announced Sunday, March 15 at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN. First round action tips off March 20.

The Horned Frogs, the league’s regular season champions, return home to Schollmaier Arena with an NCAA-leading 42-game home winning streak. TCU is the first team in Big 12 history to win back-to-back regular season championships within three seasons of finishing in last place.

The Mountaineers claimed their first Big 12 Tournament title since 2017 and will host postseason NCAA basketball for the first time since 1992. WVU defeated Arizona State, Colorado and TCU en route to their third postseason conference title in program history.

Both teams are led by players up for national yearly postseason awards, as TCU’s Olivia Miles joins ISU’s Audi Crooks as members of the Wooden Award Top 15. WVU’s Jordan Harrison was selected to the Women’s College Defensive Player of the Year Late-Season Team.

The Big 12 is one of just two leagues nationally to have 75% percent of the Conference within the top 60 of the NET and has the second-best record among Power Four leagues in games against other P4 teams (19-15, .559).
