Texas Tech’s Titus Kimaru (men) and Houston’s Cadence Patterson (women) earned Big 12 Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for following standout performances on the second weekend of the 2026 season. 

Kimaru claimed his second consecutive win of the season at the Dr. Steve McCleery Invite, crossing the finish line at 23:34.87 in his first 8k race of the season. He won the race by two minutes and seven seconds over a field of 59 runners.  

Patterson finished 10th in the 5k at the Texas A&M Invite with a time of 17:35.5, placing 10th individually among a field of 123 runners. She paced Houston for the second consecutive week, leading the Cougars to a third-place team finish.
