Kansas men's and Nebraska women's outdoor track & field teams hold the leads at the end of the second day of the 2007 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Ed Weir Stadium on the campus of the University of Nebraska. Eight events crowned champions on the second day of competition.

In the completion of the heptathlon race, senior Ashley Selig (Nebraska) won for the second time in the last three years with a point total of 5,726. The Huskers placed first and second, as senior Casie Witte (5,347) was behind Selig.

The men's hammer throw saw junior Egor Agafonov (Kansas) defend his title from last season with a throw of 70.14 meters (230-01). The mark was a Big 12 Championship and Ed Weir Stadium record. A total of eight competitors posted NCAA regional-qualifying marks.

Junior Barrett Saunders (Kansas) became the first Jayhawk in Big 12 history to win the men's long jump with a mark of 7.82 meters (25-08.00). Nine athletes qualified for NCAA competition in this event. The women's long jump title was earned by freshman Scottesha Miller (Oklahoma). She is the first Sooner to win that event and was one of eight league standouts to post NCAA-qualifying times.

The end of the decathlon saw a win by senior Neil Hines (Iowa State) with 7,508 points. He is the first Cyclone to capture the event since the Big 12 began competition in 1997.

Junior Jenny Green (Nebraska) captured the women's pole vault crown for the second time at 4.10 meters (13-05.25). It is the second time a NU athlete has won after she secured the event in 2004 with an identical height. Green is the lone Husker competitor to win the honor in Big 12 history.

The women's high jump crown was defended by sophomore Destinee Hooker (Texas) with a Big 12 meet record of 1.93 meters (6-04). The mark was also a Ed Weir Stadium record. She attempted an NCAA record in her final jumps, but was unable to clear the height.

The events on Sunday will begin at Noon CDT with the field events. The finals for the running events are scheduled to take place at 1:30 p.m. For complete Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field action and results, go to big12sports.com or huskers.com.
