Lynnzee Brown (Denver), Jade Degouveia (Oklahoma) and Olivia Trautman (Oklahoma) picked up Big 12 gymnastics weekly awards for the second week of competition.
Brown received Gymnast of the Week for being instrumental in helping Denver to an upset victory on the road against No. 6 Michigan and No. 18 Alabama. All four of the sophomore’s scores (all-around total of 39.400) contributed to the team’s total of 196.275, which was the second-highest season-opening score in program history.
Degouveia was awarded Event Specialist of the Week for the second consecutive week, after setting a career-high on floor with a 9.850 and tying her career-high on vault with a 9.950. The junior has now set or tied her career-high on vault and floor in both meets of the season.
Trautman earned Newcomer of the Week for the second straight week, after winning a share of the floor title with a 9.925 as the anchor performance. The freshman also set a career-high on vault with a 9.875 as one of six 10.0 start value vaults in the lineup.
This is the second career honor for Trautman and the third for Brown and Degouveia.
