The Oklahoma duo of Sydney Romero and Giselle Juarez received Big 12 softball weekly awards for their performances in week three.
Romeo was awarded Big 12 Softball Player of the Week for leading the Big 12 last week in batting average (.533), hits (8), runs (8), hits per game (1.60) and runs per game (1.60). The senior infielder also set a career high with four runs, matched a career high with three hits against UC Santa Barbara and totaled two putouts and five assists with no errors in five starts.
Juarez earned Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 in two starts and leading the Big 12 with 29 strikeouts in 14.1 innings over the weekend. The junior pitcher also registered 14 strikeouts over 6.0 innings against BYU, good for the most strikeouts by a Big 12 pitcher this season and her first double-digit strikeout performance as a Sooner.
This is the first Big 12 honor for Juarez and fifth career Player of the Week honor for Romero.
