Longhorns Bianca Turati and Yuya Ito garnered Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week honors, marking the second time this season that two honorees hailed from the same institution.
Turati led Texas to a 3-0 dual-match record during the week, providing wins at both singles and doubles for a combined 5-0 perfect record. She captured a win against the No. 54 player in the nation in straight sets and secured the match-winning point against KU’s No. 23 Anastasia Rychagova to lead UT past KU, 4-3.
Ito registered victories over a pair of top-20 ranked singles opponents over the weekend to extend his singles winning streak to seven and hoist his dual match singles record to 17-1 this season. The junior knocked off No. 16 Jack Lin (Columbia) and No. 10 Daniel Cukierman (USC) in straight sets.
This award mark’s the second consecutive for Ito and fourth all-time for the Austin, Texas, native, while Turati earned her second career weekly honor.
