Texas’ First Varsity Eight was selected as the Boat of the Week for the sixth week of competition.
The No. 4 Texas 1V8+ performed well at the 2019 Longhorn Invite hosted in Austin. In heat racing, the Longhorns’ crew took first place over No. 16 Indiana, No. 11 Southern California and Notre Dame. The boat finished with a time of 6:22.540 to move on to Saturday’s A Final.
In the grand final, UT cruised to a 6:24.316 open-water win over three ranked opponents: No. 10 Virginia, No. 13 Iowa and No. 16 Indiana. The first varsity eight assisted in the team winning the overall title.
This marks the second consecutive honor for Texas this season.
