For the second consecutive week, Texas junior Bianca Turati garnered the Big 12 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Fellow Longhorn Christian Sigsgaard, along with Oklahoma senior Spencer Papa, were named the Big 12 Men’s Co-Tennis Players of the Week.

In back-to-back weeks, a Texas men’s and women’s tennis student-athlete has earned weekly honors (Turati and Yuya Ito, March 26).

Turati posted a perfect 4-0 mark in singles and doubles play last week, all wins coming against ITA nationally-ranked opponents. She led the Longhorns to a 2-0 dual-match record, with wins on the road against No. 19 Oleksandra Korashvili (Oklahoma) and No. 27 Katarina Stresnakova (Oklahoma State).

Sigsgaard earned victories over two ranked singles opponents in leading No. 4 Texas to Big 12 wins over No. 29 Texas Tech and No. 6 Baylor. The Naestved, Denmark, native topped No. 99 Parker Wynn (Texas Tech) and No. 45 Matias Soto (Baylor) in singles action.

The Sooner student-athlete notched two wins over ranked opponents in the first Bedlam matchup of the season. In singles competition, Papa took down No. 68 Matej Vocel to snap the Cowboy front-runner’s six-match singles winning streak. With doubles partner Alex Bakshi, Papa captured a win over the No. 37 nationally ranked tandem of Maxim Tybar and Mathieu Scaglia, 7-5. The senior boasts four wins over ranked opponents this season.

This week’s award marks the second on the season for all three recipients, third all-time for Turati and Papa and the fourth for Sigsgaard.
