Vega Gives Oklahoma State Third Consecutive Wrestler of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Freshman Sergio Vega gave Oklahoma State its third consecutive Big 12 Wrestler of the Week to open the 2025-26 season. The Tucson, Arizona native was dominant at the National Duals Invitational, picking up a trio of top-10 wins in an undefeated 4-0 weekend.

Vega began his run versus ranked opponents with a 2-0 decision over No. 7 Ryan Jack from NC State before picking up a 3-0 win over No. 9 Nasir Bailey from Iowa. He ended his run in Tulsa, Oklahoma by claiming a 13-2 major decision over three-time All-American and NCAA finalist Brock Hardy from Nebraska, who was the second-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds.

Vega joins fellow freshmen Zack Ryder and Landon Robideau as the Cowboys’ trio of weekly award winners this season. Fifth-ranked Oklahoma State returns to action this weekend for a pair of matches, beginning with a Conference showdown at Air Force on Friday, November 21.
