IRVING, Texas – Iowa State senior Yonger Bastida earned Wrestler of the Week honors from the Conference for the fourth time in his career, following wins over the third and sixth-ranked wrestlers in the heavyweight division.

Bastida defeated Ohio State’s Nick Feldman, the No. 3 heavyweight in the class, in a 4-2 decision at the Collegiate Duels before picking up another 4-2 decision over No. 6 Nathan Taylor from Lehigh later in the afternoon. The Trinidad, Cuba native now has seven wins over ranked opponents this season, including four wins over top-10 foes.

Bastida has a 43:1 takedown ratio this season and has gone eight-consecutive matches without surrendering a takedown. The Cyclones return to action on Sunday, Jan. 4 in a non-conference showdown at Stanford.
