ARIZ, ASU, UC and Utah Collect Event Titles on Day 3 of Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Arizona State extended its lead on both the men’s and women’s sides following Friday’s finals at the 2025 Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championships. The Sun Devils lead the men’s competition with 1,398.5 points, while their women’s squad has accumulated 1,210 points.

Arizona State’s Deniz Ertan (1:54.92) secured the women’s 200 butterfly title, followed by Houston’s Adelaide Meuter (1:56.85) and Sydney Nethercutt (1:57.99). On the men’s side, ASU’s Ilya Kharun (1:39.41) touched first, achieving an NCAA “A” cut, while Arizona’s Haakon Naughton (1:40.67) and Joel Nace (1:42.76) represented the Wildcats on the podium.

In the women’s 100 breaststroke, Cincinnati’s Joleigh Crye (58.09) captured the gold, with Houston’s Henrietta Fangli (58.12) and BYU’s Mackenzie Miller (58.60) close behind. ASU’s Andy Dobrzanski (51.75) took first in the men’s 100 breaststroke, holding off TCU’s Jadon Wuilliez (52.03) and Arizona’s Tavner Wisdom (52.33).

The women’s 100 backstroke saw ASU’s Caroline Bentz (51.22) claim gold, with Houston’s Lottie Cullen (52.28) and Arizona’s Paige Armstrong (52.95) finishing second and third. On the men’s side, ASU’s Jack Wadsworth (45.01) led a 1-2 finish for the Sun Devils, as teammate Lucien Vergnes (45.46) secured silver. Arizona’s Ryan Hardy (45.64) placed third.

In diving, Utah’s Jesco Helling (362.75) won the men’s platform event, with Cincinnati’s Ramez Diaa (357.80) and TCU’s Elliott Dillon (340.25) earning second and third, respectively.

Relay action saw Arizona claim the women’s 200 freestyle relay title in 1:26.92, ahead of ASU (1:28.57) and Cincinnati (1:29.65). Arizona also took gold in the men’s 200 free relay (1:17.28), edging TCU (1:17.57) and BYU (1:17.87).

The top four individuals in each event earned All-Big 12 first team honors, while fifth through eighth-place finishers were named to the second team. Full results can be viewed here.

The 2025 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship resumes Saturday for the final day with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. PT and the finals beginning at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN+.
