BYU’s Kylie Eaquinto (gymnast) and Brynlee Andersen-Broekman (event specialist), along with Utah’s Abbi Ryssman (newcomer) were tabbed the Big 12’s gymnasts of the week.
Eaquinto earned three podium finishes as the Cougars hosted Boise State, outlasting Boise State 196.300-195.025. She had first-place finishes on bars and beam, including a career best on the uneven bars, and placed third on vault with a 9.800. This is her first honor of the season and her second career accolade after being recognized once last season (March 4).
Andersen-Broekman hit her third beam routine of the season against the Broncos, recording a season-high score of 9.925 and the meet’s highest score in any apparatus. The junior also registered a 9.900 on floor to tie for first place with teammates Eaquinto and Deb Silva. The 2025 Big 12 Event Specialist of the Year collected her fifth career weekly honor.
Ryssman helped the Red Rocks secure a first-place finish against other gymnastics programs from the state of Utah during the Les Olson IT Best of Utah meet. The freshman from Rochester, Minnesota, scored a career-best 9.925 on bars, while the team hit a team-high 49.625 with five gymnasts atop the event leaderboard. She then tallied a personal-best 9.900 on the balance beam to secure her first collegiate event title.
Conference play for gymnastics kicks off this week as BYU takes on Arizona State on Friday at 8 p.m. CT/7 p.m. MT on ESPN+ before Utah travels to Iowa State on Sunday with a 4 p.m. CT/3 p.m. MT dual on ESPN.
