GREENSBORO, N.C. – Arizona State leads both the men’s and women’s standings at the 2026 Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championship presented by Allstate, following Wednesday night’s finals at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The Sun Devils have totaled 618 points on the men’s side, while the women sit atop the leaderboard with 521.5 points through 14 events.
Kansas’ Shiyun Lai opened Wednesday’s finals session by claiming the first individual title of the night, capturing the women’s 1-meter diving crown with a winning score of 338.70. Utah finished second and third as Emilia Nilsson Garip posted a 303.95 and Kathryn Grant followed closely behind with a score of 301.20.
In the women’s 500 freestyle, Arizona State’s Deniz Ertan touched first in 4:41.34, earning an NCAA “A” cut time with her teammate Alexa Reyna securing silver in 4:44.01. TCU’s freshman, Avery Dillon, rounded out the podium with a time of 4:45.63.
Utah controlled the men’s 500 freestyle as Nick Chirafisi and Jones Lambert took the top spots. Chirafisi captured gold with a time of 4:13.48 while Lambert added a silver medal in 4:15.70. Arizona State’s Reece Grady finished third in 4:15.93 to secure the bronze.
Arizona State swept the top three spots in the women’s 200 individual medley, paced by Sonia Vaishnani, who won the event in a time of 1:57.16. Jordan Greber followed in second at 1:57.36 and Julia Ullmann claimed bronze with a time of 1:57.40.
The men’s 200 IM featured a tight battle at the front, with Utah’s Evan VanBrocklin earning the Big 12 title after clocking a 1:43.80. Arizona State’s JT Ewing finished just behind for the silver with a 1:43.92 performance, while his teammate Jordan Tiffany placed third (1:43.98).
The sprint action started with Albane Cachot touching the wall in 21.80 for a Sun Devil gold medal in the women’s 50 freestyle. The freshman was followed by a pair of senior Wildcats as Julia Wozniak (21.93) and Riley Botton (22.08) came in just behind her.
In the men’s 50 freestyle, Arizona State occupied seven of the eight lanes and took all three spots on the podium. Ilya Kharun, who won the event in meet record time of 18.46, led the Sun Devils with teammates Remi Fabiani (18.68) and Adam Chaney (18.81) completing the sweep.
The evening concluded with the men’s 3-meter dive, where Arizona’s Luke Hernandez secured the Big 12 title with a winning score of 427.60. Utah’s Elias Petersen earned silver at 425.30, while TCU’s David Ekdahl finished third with a score of 374.70.
The top four individuals in each event earned All-Big 12 first team honors, while fifth through eighth-place finishers were named to the second team. Full results can be viewed
