Two seniors and a freshman are the recipients of the latest Big 12 soccer weekly honors. Seniors Janine Beckie (Texas Tech) and Abby Smith (Texas) are honored with offensive and defensive accolades, while freshman Mikayla Flores (Texas) won the top freshman award. Smith is recognized for the second time in the last three weeks, while Beckie and Flores are named for the first time in 2015.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Janine Beckie, Texas Tech, Sr., F, Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian
Beckie recorded two big goals last weekend, including the game-tying score in the 90th minute versus Baylor. Trailing 1-0 and competing down one player, Tech needed a goal to force overtime. The senior forward converted a penalty kick with just 44 seconds remaining to force overtime. Beckie also had a score in a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Texas. She has 52 goals in her career and tied for the Big 12 lead in points this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Abby Smith, Texas, Sr., GK, Plano, Texas/Plano West
Smith notched 10 saves in the Longhorns’ victory over No. 17 Texas Tech. It was the third time this year the senior goalkeeper recorded double-digit stops in a match. She made two match-saving stops, including one on a diving tip with 3:54 left in regulation. Smith also recorded an assist on the game-winning goal with 21 seconds left in the second extra session.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Mikayla Flores, Texas, Fr., F, La Verne, Calif./Bonita
Flores scored the equalizing goal for Texas in the win in Lubbock. The freshman forward’s score was her second of the season and came on a cross from the left wing when her right-footed volley eluded the Red Raiders keeper. Flores had four of Longhorns 10 shots in the match, including three of six on frame.
