Texas Tech’s Taylor Zdrojewski and Colorado’s Faith Leyba captured Big 12 soccer’s Week 11 offensive and defensive honors, respectively, while Houston’s Sierra McCluer was named the league’s best goalkeeper and Baylor’s Brynnlee Bohannon earned the Conference’s weekly award for first-year players.
Zdrojewski tallied two goals last week in games against West Virginia and Utah. The forward helped draw the penalty kick that leveled the Red Raiders with the Mountaineers in a top 25 showdown before scoring the game-winner in the second half. In the contest against the Utes, she registered her league-leading 12th goal this season. This is her first accolade this season and her fifth overall.
Leyba was a crucial member of Colorado’s backline that held its opponents scoreless in back-to-back road games. The senior from Phoenix also registered a goal in her home state as the Buffaloes faced Arizona and Arizona State. The Wildcats and the Sun Devils were held to a combined seven shots on goal as CU tallied six goals between the two contests and collected its ninth and 10th shutouts of the season. This is the defender’s first Big 12 honor.
McCluer collected her fifth and sixth shutouts of the season after grabbing a combined four saves against TCU and UCF. The SFA transfer helped the Cougars record their 10th victory of the season following the win at UCF; the first time the program has accomplished the feat since 2021. McCluer has played every second in Big 12 play and has helped UH earn six conference matches for the first time since 2001. McCluer is the second UH goalkeeper to capture a weekly honor since joining the league in 2023.
Bohannon dished out two assists as Baylor captured two wins on its road trip to The Grand Canyon State. Her first assist of the week solidified the Bears’ 2-0 win against ASU in the 82nd minute before her second led to the game-tying goal in the Bears’ 3-2 win over the Wildcats. Bohannon is the second BU freshman to win a Big 12 weekly award this season.
