Texas Leads After Day One

The Texas men and women lead the 2020 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship after day one.

On the men’s side, the Longhorns lead with 148 points, followed by West Virginia (132) and TCU (72). For the women, Texas tops the field with 80 points, trailed by Kansas (68) and TCU (64), while West Virginia and Iowa State are tied at 58.

Texas’ opened the first final of 2020 by setting a Big 12 record in the men’s 200-yard medley relay with a 1:23.21 time, surpassing the previous record of 1:24.23 set in 2009. The Longhorns also claimed Big 12 titles in the women’s 200-yard medley relay and the men’s and women’s 800-yard freestyle relay. Longhorn senior Grayson Campbell won the men’s 1-meter dive with a 422.45 total score.

Preliminaries will begin tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET with finals scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
