Texas Athlete of the Year Nominees

2019-20 Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each weekday through May 22.

Fans will be able to vote for their male and female choices from May 22 until May 26 on Big12Sports.com. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award.

Today’s featured candidates are Texas’ Claire Adams and Jordan Windle.

UT Female Athlete of the Year Candidate
Claire Adams; Swimming & Diving
Sr., Carmel, Ind.

Accomplishments
^ Unanimous selection as the 2020 Big 12 Swimmer of the Year, garnering the honor for the third-straight year.
^ Collected Big 12 Swimmer of the Meet after taking first in every race she swam, including the 100 free (48.03), the 100 back (51.10) then swimming a in the leg the 200-medley relay, the 400-medley relay, the 400 free relay and the 800 free relay.    
^ Touched at 50.51 in the 100 back for the fourth best time in the nation on Feb. 27 and in the 50 back she touched at 23.84, again the fourth fastest time in the nation this season. 
^ Wrapped up her career as a 23-time Big 12 Champion.
^ Earned a career total 25 All-America citations, including honorable mention awards.

UT Male Athlete of the Year Candidate
Jordan Windle; Swimming & Diving
Jr.; Morrisville, N.C.

Accomplishments
^Voted as the 2020 Big 12 Diver of the Year, garnering the honor for the third-straight year.
^ Named the 2020 Big 12 Championship Diver of the Meet after winning titles on the 3-meter and platform, while finishing second in the 1-meter.
^ Concluded the 2019-20 season with a sweep at the Zone D Championship, winning the platform (927.15), 3m (820.85), and the 1m (771.90) to qualify for all three at NCAAs.
^ His 3m score at the Big 12 Championships (553.15) was an NCAA scoring record.
^ Took second in the men's platform competition at USA Winter Championships, scoring a 1434.05 over the entirety of the event.
