Arizona, Baylor, UCF, TCU Move On to Big 12 Men’s Tennis Championship Semifinals

WACO, Texas – No. 1 TCU, No. 2 Arizona, No. 3 Baylor and No. 4 UCF advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 Big 12 Men’s Tennis Championship with 4-0 sweeps Friday evening at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. The semifinals are set for Saturday, with both matches set to commence at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.

No. 2 Arizona 4, No. 7 Texas Tech 0
After dropping the doubles opener on court one, Arizona rebounded to claim the point with wins from Jay Friend and Eric Padgham (6-2) at No. 2 and Casper Christensen and Filip Gustafsson (7-5) on court three.

In singles, Colton Smith got the Wildcats rolling with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1. Alexander Rozin followed with a 6-3, 6-4 result on court five before Friend clinched the match on court two with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win.

No. 3 Baylor 4, No. 6 Arizona State 0
The Bears took the doubles point with Zsombor Velcz and Alexandru Chirita (6-1) prevailing on court three and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen and Marko Miladinovic (6-3) at the top spot.

In singles, Luc Koenig opened the scoring with a 6-3, 6-3 performance at No. 6. Devin Badenhorst then added a second point with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) showing on court one, and Poulsen sealed the match with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 result on court three.

No. 1 TCU 4, No. 8 Oklahoma State 0
TCU earned identical 6-4 victories from Lui Maxted and Filip Apltauer at No. 3 and Albert Pedrico Kravtsov and Duncan Chan on court two to take the early 1-0 advantage.

Maxted followed that by contributing to his second point with a 6-1, 6-3 outcome at No. 2. Chan did the same with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) result on court five while Roger Pascual clinched it for the Horned Frogs with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4.

No. 4 UCF 4, No. 5 Utah 0
Utah took the early lead in doubles with a 6-3 win at the top spot, but UCF answered with consecutive wins from Paul Colin and Nicolas Oliveira (6-3) at No. 3 and Mehdi Benchakroun and Santiago Giamichelle (7-6 [7-3]) on court two.

The Knights swept the three singles completed matches as Yassine Dlimi cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win on court one, followed by Oliveira (7-5, 6-3) at No. 6. Benchakroun then delivered the clincher with a 6-3, 7-5 result at No. 2.
