Texas Tech’s Hailey Murphy (women’s) and Niksa Arsic (men’s) were named Big 12 Tennis Players of the Week.
Murphy finished the weekend with a 5-0 record. From the top doubles court, the senior paired with teammate Yekaterina Dmitrichenko, the No. 62-ranked duo went 3-0 against Arizona (6-1), Florida State (6-1) and UC Santa Barbara (6-2). In singles play, Murphy took down Arizona’s Martyna Ostrzygalo in a come-from-behind win at the No.1 spot, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3). She capped off her weekend with a ranked win over the Gauchos' No. 100 Ekua Youri, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (2).
On the men’s side, Arsic went undefeated with a 4-0 record in a doubleheader tilt against New Mexico State and UTRGV. The junior clinched the doubles point with teammate Thiago Guglieri against New Mexico State’s top pair, 7-5. Arsic then moved to court one for the singles match, winning against the Aggies’ Roko Stipetic in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. In the afternoon match, Arsic and Guglieri would take down UTRGV’s Sam Whitehead and Will Roberts for the doubles point, 6-1. He then claimed his fourth win of the weekend against URGV’s Ivo Isqueiro, 6-3, 6-1, completing Texas Tech’s weekend sweep. Arsic leads the Red Raiders with five singles wins and six doubles
